With the reality of COVID-19, I posted this to social media.
I see a lot of emotions right now as people deal with both their new realities and the fact that that reality keeps shifting each day.
My reminder to you is to give yourself and others grace. We will be mad, and frustrated, and disappointed with ourselves and others.
That is the fact when life gets upended so quickly and it is unclear exactly what will happen.
A reminder that when someone is complaining sometimes the best thing to do is simply listen and say, “I hear you.”
Also, don’t expect to get anything “productive” done this week. We are all adjusting to a new normal that seems to shift each day. Right now, particularly if you have kids, it’s about figuring out just what is possible and how to accomplish it.
Instead, celebrate the connecting you get to do with each other and keep asking the question of each other, “what do you need to accomplish what you want to do?”
We are going to do this for a long time, and no one gets it right the first time. Lean into the mistakes.
Good luck everyone, and know that we are all just doing the best we can in very trying times.
