Magic as Language: Love this idea from Telecanter to use Magic as an old tongue.  As he mentions, it’s an old trope, but a great one to make magic seem more magical in your games.

Roleplaying and Exploration Rewards: Like this idea to quantify what players need to do to roleplay and explore and earn experience.  I find myself just giving them XP equal to an at level combat.  But I tend to handwave a lot.
