Reflections on Using Google+ and Twiddla

I’m going to write a more detailed summary of all the tools we are using to play D&D online, but here is a  short review of our use of Twiddla and Google+.

Google+ has been great.  We use google+ hangouts, and the only issue we’ve had is one player causing everyone else’s voice to echo, but he just plugged in a headset, and that went away.  The chat window was used primarily for sending links to players.

We used picasa to look at overland maps and discuss where the players were going to next.

Twiddla worked great, although we had a couple of hiccups.  If you use tiles, you need to make sure you put the tiles to the back, so that the tokens for each player doesn’t get hidden.  The second is when we had multiple lines, tiles and PC tokens on the same space it became a little tricky to select the right piece.  But otherwise, it was a lot of fun, and easy to use.  I’ve got some more pointers on how to use it, and I’ll be posting it tomorrow.
