So, these were two blog posts one after another that appeared in my RSS feeds.
From Save Vs. Poison: “-A truckload of RIFTS stuff has appeared. It makes me want to start tinkering again, but down that road surely lies madness.” He was sharing his experience at a used bookstore, and made an offhand comment about RIFTS. I’ve never read any RIFTS books, but I know a lot of people who love them, but often complain about many of the aspects of the game. It’s clear that this person has finally realized that RIFTS just isn’t the game for him, no matter how much the setting grabs him.
However, a few minutes later this appeared.
From RPG Blog II: “-Serious time was spent attempting to figure out the terminal velocity of a rhinoceros dropped from the sky. Yep. I love Rifts.” Our friend at RPG Blog II clearly loves him some RIFTS. And I love the fact that RPGs can provide such a diverse experience for people. And that game that he describes? It sounds freaking awesome. Maybe I should figure out where that used bookstore is and pick up some RIFTS materials…
Sometimes I love the serendipity of the internet.
