So, this summer, I found myself bumming around the house of my soon-to-be in-laws. (Man, that’s a lot of dashes.) In an effort to not be a total slug, I had brought a number of books with me to read while my fiance’ was out doing her vet thing. One of those books happened to be The Magicians: A Novel by Lev Grossman. It was a decent book. I enjoyed how it took the basic story of boy wizard and made it a much much worse experience for the main character. Harry Potter never did that many drugs or was that obsessive about his loves.
It ultimately was an uneven book though, with parts having an unfinished feel. I did enjoy though the way that all the stories were brought together in the end.
3/5 Stars. Good, just not great.
